Back in 1995, in a home basement in Rotterdam, two ambitious students were surrounded by a number of heavy monitors, a spotty 64k internet connection and a meager budget to get their small web design business off the ground.
Little did CEO Sicco-Igor Van Hoegee know then what would become of TellUs. He recalls a time in the 1990s when the need for lead generation existed but there was no vehicle to provide the service, “if back then, we had a lead generation service such as TellUs, I wouldn’t know anyone that wouldn’t sign up immediately for the service.”
In 2002 Sicco-Igor realized TellUs needed a shift of focus. New web design companies kept popping up and it was hard to differentiate yourself from the mass. He strongly believed that the key to success for TellUs did not lie in attacking competitors but in helping them instead. “Every company out there was begging for customers. On the other end of the spectrum you had customers looking for their services at affordable rates. The Yellow Pages is outdated, a need for real-time information and quotes was essential to be a competitive mediator between businesses and their target consumers.”
The idea of lead generation was simple, the system behind it wasn’t. In 2002, TellUs successfully created a system that could deliver consumers price shopping quotes and businesses real-time targeted customers. TellUs was en route to become a success.
TellUs at first specialized in providing removal companies with quote requests.
But Sicco-Igor soon realized there were unlimited opportunities for TellUs by expanding across borders and helping out businesses in other industries as well.
